Writing a book is the easy part–marketing and promoting it takes REAL effort and determination if you want to sell more than a dozen–especially if you’re a self-published author. Here’s an marketing idea Beverly Mahone of Boomer Diva Nation came up with at the spur of the moment while on a beach getaway weekend. No one had ever heard of the book but it definitely piqued their interest. The key to this video is to learn to PROMOTE yourself and your book wherever you go!

An innovative way to self promote and make new friends at the same time. With a camcorder in hand, Beverly asks the question, “Are you reading my book?” and the conversations that it sparks are quite interesting.
Great tactic Beverly!

Beverly,
Ideas churn even when you are on vacation, huh? This is a great way to promote a book. You have such great ideas to share with all of us. Keep up the awesome work!

That was and excellent idea. I loved how you struck up a conversation with the people you met on the beach. I enjoyed the video.

Thanks Tally,
It was fun and relatively easy to do. Sometimes people have a problem with you sticking a camera in their faces but if you do it in a fun way you can achieve your end result. I highly recommend video marketing!

Teri,
I take my video camera with me EVERYWHERE I go. There are so many things you can do–like standing in a grocery store parking lot and ask people if they know what a VA stands for. Then when you tell then, it makes for great video because I bet most people will say “Virginia.”
